BE IMPERFECT

If you always fill in & gloss over every little crack in your exterior, how will anyone ever see inside to your heart?? Our brokenness is the glue that binds us to the rest of humanity. Pretending to be the perfect person will only perfectly set you apart in such a manner as that no one will think that they can compare, & thus you will, pretty picture perfect that you may appear, be set apart in isolation. It is true that the most valuable antiques have no chips or cracks, but those are things, not people. People were never intended for perfection while living on this earth, & pretense is a precursor to polarization.

ACCEPTANCE OF IMPERFECTION PERFECTION

Happiness lies not in the constant quest for perfection, but rather in the acceptance of imperfection, for it is the edges of brokenness that sharpen us. Chasing after perfection is like the proverbial dog chasing his tail- we can never catch it.

Lord, I know that the stained glass creation which You can make from all the broken pieces of my life will be far more beautiful & sturdier than anything I can try to create on my own. Help me accept that You are the Master Artist.

IMPERFECT PEOPLE

My heart was broken this morning as I read the words of a friend who lamented over the fact that many think she leads a “perfect life” when, in reality, she has been struggling with several issues that most people were unaware about. Folks, the truth is that NO ONE leads such a life, because such a thing exists only in fairy tales & in movies! Each & every person I know is struggling with something almost all of the time. It is rare when we are not engaged in a battle of some sort. We cannot ever lead a “perfect” life, because we are imperfect people with imperfect expectations, living in an imperfect world, surrounded by other imperfect people. Today, I pray for every person that reads this, knowing that you are each fighting your own battles today, whether they be illness, grief over loss of a loved one, joblessness, financial insecurity,
illnesses of family members, aging parents, squabbles with siblings, difficult bosses, challenging subordinates, lack of enough work, fear of loss of income/employment due to government cuts, relocation issues, precarious pregnancies, unruly children, issues with kids, relationship drama, divorce, separation, etc. etc. etc. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding comfort you this day, & may you all be blessed with God’s healing & provisions. HE KNOWS YOUR NEEDS BEFORE YOU EVEN UTTER THEM!

PERFECTION IS AN ILLUSION

PERFECTION IS AN ILLUSION

Within the imperfections of reality lies inspiration, for perfection upon earth is just an illusion which the insecure project in order to insulate themselves from the pain of living; for like a baby being squeezed through a birth canal, change, growth, & rebirth bring transformation, but they come at a price called sacrifice. Embrace your imperfections, for it is in the painful process of discarding pretense & showing the world who you really are that you transform into the person whom you were destined to be.

Opening wide the door to your dysfunctions allows the fresh air of reality to sweep them clean, & you will be free to embrace what is left behind after the purging is complete. It is through recognizing disenchantment & managing expectations that you will find the courage to expose the common thread that binds you to everyone else, which is the imperfect humanity that joins us each with the rest of mankind.

Your story resonates with others when they recognize that which unites them with you in spirit, & holding fast to the illusion that all is well within your four walls when your world is falling apart alienates, rather than attracts others. You do not have to air your dirty laundry in public. But do not be afraid to be real when you face your struggles, for without a plot twist, there is not a bestseller, & without a trial, there is no testimony. When God became man on earth, we found a common thread that binds us to His suffering, & it is that same thread that binds us to one another in love. Be of good courage – we all fall, we all fail, & we all hurt, for we are all human. That is the one true reality. Everything else is an illusion.

There is no such thing as “perfect” weather, for always, it will be too hot, too cold, or too something for someone, so best to just adjust your attitude to whatever is going on outside of you. Some days you need an umbrella. Some days you need to hunker down & wait out the storm. But every day, let your inner sun shine!
